Now we come to the "Power Plus" line. A line
that is mainly composed of variants, with a few surprises.
The variants were cost averager figures; meaning that
by using existing arms and legs from earlier figures,
this line could add new features for less costs. Although
not too much is known about this line, it seems like there
would be bigger mechanisms and some light-up features
on these figures. While the other characters were pretty
much fully designed by the time of the presentation, Superman
was shown with three possible variations. Thanks to the
existence of the prototypes, we can see that they chose
option #3, Kryptonite Cape Superman. You can see that
the arms on the prototype are basically identical to the
existing figure, with the addition of glove lines at the
cuffs. The outer shell hadn't been sculpted by the time
the line was cancelled.
We also get a neat look at the "works like"
mock-up they made with a Green Lantern figure, to show
the execs how his outer shell would work. It also appears
that the Kryptonite shard would snap into the bottom of
his cape, and possibly light up. Photos of the Power Plus
Superman hard copy are courtesy of the fine folks at The
