DC Micro Collection

Kenner didn't miss a beat in trying to cover all the bases for their big pitch to DC; in addition to the many action figure related items and the 12" doll line, Kenner also pitched a version of their Micro World Collection that was currently in production in their Star Wars line. Using existing Star Wars figures, Kenner made some mock-ups of proposed sets: the Batman Rooftop Showdown and Superman's Fortress of Solitude. While the Fortress of Solitude was just a piece of the Hoth set with stickers and attachments added, the rooftop was completely hand made. First reported on Gus Lopez's great Star Wars site, he also has bigger pics to gawk at by following the link.In addition to the micro sets, each piece would come with a backdrop and mini-comic. It's very possible that the whole concept of the in-pack mini-comic originated with these toys. The actual art on these mock-ups wasn't meant to be accurate, but just for demonstrative purposes.
