METALLO

Metallo has had a few different identities over the years, but this one was the Roger Corben version, active in the mid 80s. Originally a Superman villain, Metallo at the time of this pitch was pestering Blue Devil on a regular basis. This would have been another nice metallic figure, plus he might have had a hologram/lenticular sticker on his chest, much like the El Dorado concept art. And like the Bizarro concept art, they've misspelled his name.

This figure's action seemed to mimic that of the later released Snare Arm Swamp Thing, namely, having retractable hands. While this would have been Metallo's first figure, he was later made by Kenner in both the Superman: Man of Steel line and the Superman: The Animated Series line. Both of those figures were of the John Corben Metallo, though. The costume shown here doesn't really match Metallo's oputfit of the time, although the colors are right and it is close. I guess Kenner was taking artistic license to make him more robot-like and less like a guy in tights. Come to think of it, he does look pretty similiar to Robotman of the Doom Patrol here.
