Garth Ranzz is from the planet Winath. He received his powers of generating
electricity during an encounter with lightning beasts on the planet Korbal.
Garth is concerned about his powers because he believes that they are
causing irratic, destructive behavior. He was one of the three founding
members of the Legion of Superheroes along with Imra "Saturn Girl" Ardeen
and Rokk "Cosmic Boy" Krinn, after they saved R. J. Brande from an assassination
attempt. Garth has a crush on Imra Ardeen which might be reciprocated.
This is complicated by her attraction to Rokk Krinn, and by the fact that
Garth is no longer around most of the time. He lost an arm when stopping
his power mad older brother from ruling the galaxy. His lost arm has been
replaced by a mechanical prosthesis, which is useful as an arm but is
not able to project lightning like the rest of his body.
Garth has a cool detachable arm and a replacement mechanical arm that even has an elbow joint, which more than makes up for a lack of hip joints. Garth, in fact, rocks the house.
