Hawkman/Hawkgirl

Half human, half extraterrestrial, Thanagarian policeman Katar Hol originally came to Earth to serve as a goodwill ambassador for his home planet. In time, he came to like and respect his post on Earth and decided to stay. While this decision was originally by choice, the Thanagarian government eventually forced Katar and his partner, Shayera Thal, to seek political asylum and made the move permanent. Katar and Shayera soon became heroes of note on thier adopted world and became known as Hawkman and Hawkwoman.

DC Direct's first two-pack was unveiled as a long-awaited fan favorite choice: Silver Age versions of Hawkman and Hawkgirl. Coming with both Gloden Age and Silver Age removable helmets, a mace and shield. This fantastic set is nearly perfect, except possibly needing knee joints, which may have been sacrificed due to the wings added cost. Both figures have expandable wings, and buttons on their backs that make the wings flap. You can even use the "Spear of Destiny" that comes with the Spectre for Hawkgirl! My main gripe is that they are very hard to stand, due to the weight of the wings. And Hawkgirl's head isn't articulated! Go figure. But who'da thunk we'd ever get a Hawkgirl?!? This set set a very high bar for the two-packs. As we'll see, that promise hasn't always been fulfilled...
