After almost three years of waiting for a new development in the BTAS line, the last few weeks of 1997 brought us the New Batman Adventures retooling. Based on the relaunched cartoon on the WB network, this new extension sports perfect representations of the character redesigns by Bruce Timm and staff. This is mainly due to the use of the actual animation maquettes in tooling the first few figures of the new line.
Considering every single BTAS character had been designed in a more stream-lined, fashion, with a reduced color palette, it was thought that the line might return to it's glory days of multiple villains and few repaints. Sadly, that did not happen, although we at least got a good number of unique figures. And hope looms on the horizon with such multi-pack exclusives like the STAS figures and Alfred.
